In a remarkable development, the Kullu Police have successfully resolved the shocking murder of Labh Singh Guleria, a 52-year-old Junior Engineer from the Jal Shakti Department, within just four days. Authorities have apprehended four suspects, including a female doctor, her spouse, father-in-law, and brother-in-law, all believed to be involved in the crime.

Investigators have uncovered that the motive behind the murder stemmed from suspicions regarding an alleged extramarital affair between Guleria and the doctor. Reports indicate that the accused conspired to attack Guleria after noticing his frequent visits to the doctor's home.

On July 24, Guleria, who worked at the Kullu Sub-Division office of the Jal Shakti Department, was reportedly lured to the doctor's residence under the guise of inspecting a water pipeline. Upon his arrival, he was allegedly confronted by the doctor’s family regarding the suspected affair and was brutally assaulted inside the house.

Authorities believe that after the attack, the injured engineer was abandoned near his workplace in an attempt to disguise the incident as a random roadside assault.

The breakthrough in the case was achieved through a thorough investigation led by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the direction of Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Chauhan. The team utilized call detail records, technical evidence, and witness statements to reconstruct the events leading up to the murder. A domestic helper's testimony from the doctor's household was pivotal in solving the case, with her statement recorded before a magistrate.

The female doctor is currently employed at the Regional Hospital in Kullu, while her husband practices medicine in Lahaul-Spiti. Police have conducted medical examinations on three of the suspects.

Guleria was discovered critically injured late on July 24 after his family initiated a search when he did not return home. His scooter was located near his office, and he was found unconscious by the roadside. Initially taken to the Regional Hospital in Kullu, he was later transferred to AIIMS Bilaspur, where he succumbed to his injuries two days later.

Initially, the case puzzled investigators, prompting the Kullu Police to form a dedicated SIT to unravel what seemed to be a motive-less attack. The rapid investigation ultimately led to the arrest of the four suspects on Wednesday evening.

The victim's wife, Kanta Devi, a resident of Khoula village in Kullu district, filed the complaint after her husband failed to return home that night.

The suspects are expected to appear before a local court, and Kullu Police are anticipated to provide additional details about the investigation during a press briefing on Thursday.

While police have not yet released an official statement regarding the arrests, the allegations will undergo judicial review as the investigation continues.
