Today, Kuldeep Singh Pathania, the Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, officially opened the three-day Under-19 Girls’ Sports Competition at Government Senior Secondary School in Thulel, part of the Bhatiyat zone. He raised the flag and acknowledged the march-past performed by the athletes, marking the commencement of the event.
Pathania conveyed his best wishes and stressed the significance of extracurricular activities alongside academics in fostering personal growth and securing a promising future. He encouraged students and young individuals to engage in sports, emphasizing their role in developing leadership skills, enhancing physical health, and promoting mental wellness.
Reiterating his dedication to the comprehensive development of the Bhatiyat constituency, Pathania mentioned that the region's road density has reached an impressive 99.01 percent, making it one of the most well-connected areas in the Chamba district. He also promised to advocate for equal diet allowances for athletes in both primary and higher education categories with the Chief Minister and Education Minister.
Furthermore, Pathania announced that the Government Senior Secondary School in Thulel has been designated as a Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding School, with an initial budget of ₹1 crore allocated to enhance its infrastructure. He assured that a state-of-the-art building and all essential facilities under the Day-Boarding scheme would be provided in the upcoming years. Additionally, he pledged ₹50,000 for the establishment of a gym on the school grounds.
During the event, the Speaker was honored with a shawl, cap, and memento by the Deputy Director of School Education and the Sports Organizing Committee.
The inauguration was attended by several dignitaries, including Dildar Ali Batt, Chairman of the State Haj Committee, Chela Krishan Chand, Director Board Member of the State Forest Corporation, Zila Parishad Member Kusum Lata, SDM (Civil) Manish Soni, DSP Mayank Sharma, Deputy Director of School Education Vikas Mahajan, Tehsildar Surender Kumar, Divisional Forest Officer Dr. Kuldeep Jamwal, BDO Anil Gurada, and Executive Engineers Rakesh Thakur and Narendra Chaudhary, along with representatives from Panchayati Raj institutions.
