KT Rama Rao's Strong Critique of Congress Leadership
KT Rama Rao, the executive president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), launched a fierce critique against the ruling Congress government in Telangana and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Wednesday. He accused the party of causing a significant decline in the state since it came to power after a decade of development under former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). During a 'Meet the Press' event organized by the Hyderabad Press Club, he labeled Congress as 'Telangana's primary enemy.'
Allegations of Unfulfilled Promises
Since the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, Revanth Reddy has been leading the first Congress government in Telangana after taking office in 2023. KT Rama Rao accused the Congress of repeatedly betraying the aspirations of the Telangana movement. He asserted that during the previous BRS administration, the state made significant advancements in agriculture, irrigation, drinking water, education, healthcare, welfare, and industrial development. However, he claimed that the current governance is facing failures and policy paralysis.
Financial Management Under Fire
Describing the Congress government as 'completely ineffective,' KT Rama Rao alleged that the party gained power based on promises it has failed to fulfill. He pointed out that various segments of society, including farmers, youth, government employees, and women, have been let down by the administration. Additionally, he criticized the state's financial management, claiming that accusations regarding debts accumulated during the previous government have been disproven by recent RBI data. He alleged that the current administration has taken on substantial short-term debt without showing any tangible results on the ground.
Concerns Over Rice Procurement
On the issue of rice procurement, KT Rama Rao accused the Reddy government of neglecting farmers. He stated that delays in procurement, inadequate arrangements at purchase centers, and poor planning have left farmers vulnerable to losses, with harvested crops deteriorating due to adverse weather conditions. Furthermore, he alleged that both the Congress government and the BJP-led central government are colluding against the interests of Telangana.
