On July 28, Kolkata police apprehended three individuals in the southern region of the city, seizing cocaine valued at more than ₹10 lakh. This information was disclosed by the police on Tuesday. A senior police official indicated that based on confidential intelligence, officers from the Karaya police station conducted a raid on Monday at a location on Aheeripukur Road, where they recovered 104 grams of cocaine.

The initial investigation revealed that the suspects were allegedly supplying narcotics in small packets at rave parties held in the city. A senior officer from the Kolkata police stated, "We identified this location based on specific intelligence. During the raid, we confiscated 104 grams of cocaine and arrested three individuals."

The street value of the seized drugs exceeds ₹10 lakh. Authorities are currently investigating the source of this shipment and the individuals involved in the supply chain. Investigators suspect that the accused are part of a larger network that procures cocaine from international traffickers via the dark web, a hidden segment of the internet accessible only through specialized software.

This dark web allows users and websites to remain anonymous through encrypted networks. According to police, the narcotics were allegedly concealed in courier parcels or smuggled by human carriers to reach Kolkata. The three suspects have been placed in police custody, where they are being interrogated to identify other gang members and trace the source of the drugs.

The officer noted that on Monday, the Kolkata police participated in a coordination meeting with approximately 20 investigative and enforcement agencies aimed at strengthening actions against drug trafficking. This meeting took place at the Kolkata police headquarters in Lalbazar and included Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Nand and representatives from various agencies, including the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Customs Department, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Excise Department, and Health Department.

During the meeting, officials reviewed drug seizures and arrests made by different agencies over the past month and shared intelligence to combat organized drug trafficking. They also provided updates on ongoing anti-drug operations.
