Kiren Rijiju Urges Opposition to Discuss NEET Paper Leak Without Conditions

On Thursday, Kiren Rijiju, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, appealed to the opposition to engage in discussions regarding the NEET paper leak issue without any preconditions. He emphasized that this matter, which affects students across the nation, should not be politicized. Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Rijiju stated that the government is ready to initiate discussions immediately and questioned the necessity of any conditions prior to the debate. He noted that there has been a widespread demand for a discussion on NEET, asserting that no conditions should be imposed. He warned that setting conditions indicates a lack of good intentions.

 

Rijiju urged opposition parties to allow Parliament to function smoothly without any preconditions. He reiterated that politics should not interfere with the NEET discussions and called on all parties to engage in dialogue without any prior stipulations. He expressed, 'I request you not to impose conditions. Let’s discuss this matter without any preconditions. We can start today.' Referring to the government's stance on the controversy, Rijiju mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already assured the nation of strict action against those involved in paper leak incidents.

 

He added that the Prime Minister has promised the establishment of fast-track courts and stringent penalties for those found guilty. Rijiju reaffirmed the government's commitment to holding accountable those responsible for any irregularities in the examination process. His remarks came just hours after Prime Minister Modi announced the creation of fast-track courts to ensure swift and severe punishment for individuals involved in paper leak cases. Modi also stressed that nothing is more important than the welfare and future of the country’s youth, assuring that those jeopardizing students' futures will not be spared.

 

Rijiju's statements in the Rajya Sabha followed a formal reiteration by the government in the Lok Sabha the previous day, confirming its readiness to discuss the NEET paper leak issue. On Wednesday, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister informed the lower house that the government has always been open to such discussions. He mentioned that it is essential for the leaders of the house to negotiate the rules under which the debate will occur, as well as to determine the date and duration of the discussion. He emphasized that the government seeks meaningful dialogue, not just a superficial display, and that Parliament should deliberate on the steps taken by the center to inform the public about the government's response to this controversy.
