On Friday, Kiren Rijiju, the Union Minister, visited the Tibetan spiritual leader, the 14th Dalai Lama, in the capital to inquire about his health following a recent knee surgery. Rijiju expressed his happiness at seeing the Dalai Lama in good spirits and recovering swiftly. This meeting took place just days after the spiritual leader underwent surgery.
The Dalai Lama, aged 90, was discharged from Apollo Hospital on June 12 after successfully undergoing a left knee replacement operation.

Essential medical updates regarding the spiritual leader's health were shared on his official X account. Dr. Rajesh Malhotra, a senior consultant at Apollo Hospital, detailed the successful knee replacement surgery that took place on June 8 in New Delhi. He noted that the hospital staff collaborated closely with the Dalai Lama's personal representatives to ensure a smooth treatment process.
Dr. Malhotra mentioned that during the treatment, the Dalai Lama's private medical team worked alongside the administrative and medical staff at Apollo Hospitals. Following this medical oversight, the consultant provided updates on the recovery process, indicating that the spiritual leader was showing positive signs of healing and met all necessary health criteria for discharge.
Positive Recovery Outlook
Dr. Malhotra confirmed that the Dalai Lama's condition is stable, and there are optimistic expectations for his full recovery. He was discharged from the hospital on the morning of June 12.
