Kiren Rijiju Invites TMC Leaders to All-Party Meeting Ahead of Monsoon Session

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has invited Sudip Bandopadhyay and 19 other TMC MPs to an all-party meeting before the Monsoon session of Parliament. This meeting aims to discuss the legislative agenda and significant issues expected during the session. Invitation Extended to TMC Leaders

Kiren Rijiju, the Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, has reached out to Sudip Bandopadhyay, a rebel leader from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), along with 19 other Lok Sabha members, inviting them to participate in an all-party meeting prior to the Monsoon session of Parliament. These members have recently joined the National Citizens Party of India (NCPI). In a letter addressed to Bandopadhyay, Rijiju acknowledged that this group of 20 MPs had requested recognition from Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla as NCPI, a matter currently under consideration. He has invited them to engage in discussions regarding the legislative agenda for the upcoming session.


Details of the Upcoming Meeting

In his correspondence, Rijiju noted that the recent inclusion of Bandopadhyay and the other members into NCPI has prompted their request for official recognition, which is still being evaluated. He expressed his pleasure in inviting them to the meeting of floor leaders of political parties in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. This meeting will focus on significant issues and legislative business expected during the forthcoming Monsoon session. Rijiju emphasized the importance of their cooperation to ensure the smooth functioning of both houses of Parliament.


Scheduled Meeting Date

The all-party meeting is set for July 19 at 11 AM in the main committee room of the Parliament House Annex. Rijiju has also requested the participation of Sudip Bandopadhyay, designated as the Chief Whip of NCPI, and Dr. Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar. This meeting will take place a day before the Monsoon session begins on July 20. It is anticipated that the government will provide political parties with insights into its legislative agenda, while opposition parties may raise critical issues.


Monsoon Session Timeline

Previously, Rijiju announced that the Monsoon session would run from July 20 to August 13. He shared on social media that, upon the recommendation of the Indian government, the Honorable President, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, has approved the convening of both houses of Parliament for the Monsoon session in 2026. This session is scheduled to commence on July 20, 2026, and conclude on August 13, 2026, during which significant national issues will be debated, discussed, and decided.
