Kiren Rijiju Engages with Rahul Gandhi to Resolve Parliamentary Deadlock

After nearly three weeks of inactivity in Parliament, Kiren Rijiju reached out to Rahul Gandhi once again on Thursday. Their conversation focused on ending the deadlock in the House and garnering support for women's reservation and delimitation. Rahul Gandhi mentioned that he would consult all parties within the INDIA alliance before engaging with the government on this matter. According to government sources, the necessary numbers for passing the bill have already been secured; however, since Congress is the main opposition party, the government aims to bring them on board as well.

While addressing the media, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that he had a productive discussion with Rahul Gandhi. They talked about a specific issue and touched upon other topics as well. Rijiju emphasized the importance of maintaining ongoing dialogue with Congress and other opposition parties, expressing a desire to work together. He noted that although they may be political rivals, they are not enemies, and collaboration is essential for the nation's benefit. However, he pointed out that there is a perception being created that the opposition does not want Parliament to function at any cost. He questioned who would ultimately suffer from this situation.

Rijiju further explained that the Home Minister has introduced bills and is present in Parliament from morning till evening. It is expected that the minister whose bill is under consideration remains in the House. He remarked that both the Home Minister and the Prime Minister are consistently present, yet opposition members are hindering the proceedings by protesting outside instead of participating in discussions. He asserted that this behavior is inappropriate, noting that despite Congress and some allied parties walking out of the Rajya Sabha, bills are still being passed after thorough discussions, with many MPs actively participating and sharing their views.

The minister also pointed out that ultimately, it is Congress that suffers, particularly its newly elected MPs, as they miss opportunities to speak. He remarked that while the country is progressing, the opposition continues to chant the same slogans daily. Regarding student issues, he highlighted the Prime Minister's revolutionary decisions and efforts to address the problem of exam paper leaks. Despite this, the opposition persists in dramatizing the same issue every morning, which he likened to disrespecting Lord Ram. He concluded that such behavior and constant protests are unacceptable.
