Significance of BJP's Victory in West Bengal

The Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, characterized the decisive victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the West Bengal Assembly elections as a pivotal moment for India's existence, democracy, and cultural identity. Speaking to a news agency, Rijiju emphasized that the win in Bengal transcends a mere political achievement. It represents a struggle for India's culture, heritage, and identity, marking a significant victory not just for the BJP but for the entire nation. He asserted that democracy has been strengthened through this outcome.

Political Stability and Violence

Rijiju further noted that the election results signify a step towards stability in West Bengal and an end to political violence in the state. Reflecting on past incidents, he mentioned that the political violence witnessed in previous elections, including horrific acts like people being burned alive, would cease with the BJP's governance. He stated that wherever the BJP governs, political violence diminishes, attributing this to good governance.

Praise for Prime Minister Modi

He also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, expressing that as long as Modi is at the helm, the public will have faith in their future. Rijiju remarked that no leader like Modi has emerged in the country, which is why the BJP continues to achieve political successes under his name.

BJP's Dominance in the Assembly

In the 294-member West Bengal Assembly, the BJP secured over 200 seats, effectively ending the long-standing rule of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and leftist parties. This outcome dealt a significant blow to the TMC, with several senior ministers, including Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, losing their seats.

Cultural Progress in Ladakh

Highlighting cultural and developmental advancements in Ladakh, Rijiju mentioned that the relics of Lord Buddha are now housed in Leh, attracting thousands of Ladakhis. He described this as a fortunate moment and referenced his participation in the Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Memorial Lecture.

Unique Identity for Ladakh

He added that the Union Territory status and the formation of new districts have given Ladakh a distinct identity. With the blessings of Lord Buddha, he believes that development will accelerate further, crediting this rapid progress to Prime Minister Modi's leadership.
