Navgire Excited to Rejoin UP Warriorz, Play with Lanning
Kiran Navgire, the Indian cricketer known for being the fastest centurion in women's T20 cricket, has expressed her enthusiasm about returning to the UP Warriorz for the upcoming 2026 Women's Premier League (WPL) season. She is particularly thrilled to play alongside the renowned Australian cricketer and multiple World Cup champion, Meg Lanning.
Having participated in all three previous WPL seasons with UP Warriorz, Kiran was retained by the franchise for Rs 60 lakh using the right-to-match card during the recent auction. Throughout her 25 matches with the team, she has accumulated 419 runs, averaging 17.45 with a strike rate exceeding 140, including one half-century.
In an interview on JioHotstar, Kiran shared her feelings about rejoining the team and the opportunity to play with Lanning. "I am really happy about this moment. I wanted to be part of UP Warriorz this season. I've developed strong relationships with both the players and the staff, so returning feels great. Playing with Meg Lanning has always been a dream of mine, and I feel fortunate that she is now part of our team. Her experience from winning numerous World Cups and leading Delhi Capitals to finals in the last few seasons will be invaluable for us this year. I can't wait to learn from her and play alongside her."
The Auction Day Experience
Kiran reminisced about the moment she learned of her selection while practicing, stating, "I was batting in the nets while my friends were following the auction. When my name was announced, they called me, and we all celebrated together."
Fastest Centurion in Women's T20 Cricket
Although Kiran has only played six T20 internationals for India, scoring 17 runs, she gained recognition for her remarkable achievement of the fastest century in women's T20 cricket. She accomplished this feat by scoring a 34-ball century for Maharashtra against Punjab in the Senior Women's T20 Trophy. In that tournament, she amassed 233 runs over seven innings, averaging 46.60 with an impressive strike rate of 235.35, including one century and one fifty.
Kiran's record surpassed that of New Zealand's Sophie Devine, who previously held the record with a 36-ball century for Wellington in 2021.

The fourth season of the WPL is scheduled to take place from January 9 to February 5 next year in Navi Mumbai and Vadodara. UP Warriorz is determined to secure their first title, having previously reached the playoffs in the inaugural season.
