Kieron Pollard, the batting coach for Mumbai Indians (MI), has been penalized 15% of his match fee after violating Article 2.3 of the Indian Premier League's (IPL) Code of Conduct during a recent match against Punjab Kings (PBKS). This information was confirmed in an official IPL statement.
In addition to the fine, Pollard received one demerit point for a Level 1 breach of the IPL Code of Conduct. The infraction involved the use of 'audible obscenity' during the match, specifically when Pollard directed inappropriate language at the fourth umpire in the 19th over of the second innings.
The IPL statement released on Friday noted, 'Kieron Pollard, Batting Coach of Mumbai Indians, has been fined 15% of his applicable match fee and has accumulated one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL's Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials. The incident occurred when Pollard used abusive language towards the fourth umpire.'
Pollard acknowledged the violation and accepted the penalty imposed by Match Referee Pankaj Dharmani.
