Keshav Maharaj has etched his name in cricket history by becoming the first bowler from South Africa to claim 200 Test wickets. He accomplished this remarkable feat during his 59th Test match against Zimbabwe at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

Maharaj achieved his 200th wicket in the seventh over of the match, outsmarting Craig Ervine with a slower delivery that turned sharply outside off stump. The ball's dip and spin led to Ervine's dismissal, with Kyle Verreynne taking the catch behind the stumps.

Currently, Maharaj ranks as South Africa's ninth highest wicket-taker in Test cricket. He played a crucial role in the Proteas' successful campaign in the recently concluded 2023-25 World Test Championship cycle, where they triumphed over Australia in the finals held at Lord's in London.

Historically, 2017 was Maharaj's standout year, during which he took 48 wickets across just 11 matches. As a traditional spinner, he has claimed 86 Test wickets on home soil, averaging 30.43, despite South African pitches typically offering limited assistance to spin bowlers.
