Vijayan's Stance on Bengaluru Demolitions

On Thursday, Kerala's Chief Minister P. Vijayan stated that he would not hesitate to respond to issues like the recent demolitions of homes in Bengaluru, despite it being a matter in another state. During a press conference, he was asked whether he had expressed concerns about the demolition actions during his meeting with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at the Shivagiri Mutt.

Vijayan explained that the Congress leader arrived late and had to leave early to attend a cabinet meeting, which is why he could not stay longer.

Response to Karnataka Leaders

In response to Karnataka leaders urging him not to intervene in the demolition issue, Vijayan emphasized that he does not limit his reactions to state boundaries when it comes to issues like destruction or minority rights. He stated, "We respond strongly to such matters, even when similar issues arise in other countries like Gaza."

Concerns Over Minority Rights

Vijayan remarked that it is natural to react when vulnerable individuals are rendered homeless by bulldozers. Last month, he had posted on Facebook, asserting that the demolitions in Bengaluru reflect a form of politics targeting minorities, similar to what has been observed in North India. He warned that such trends are spreading to South India as well, expressing surprise that these actions were carried out under the Congress-led government in Karnataka, which he referred to as 'bulldozer justice.'
