In a significant move, Kerala's Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan has approved overdue compensation for a woman from Palakkad, who lost her hand due to alleged negligence by the health department. Acknowledging reports of a four-month delay in the financial assistance she was supposed to receive, the Chief Minister stated that necessary directives had already been issued regarding this matter. He mentioned on social media that upon learning about the delay in the financial aid announced by the previous government for Vinodini, who suffered due to the health department's negligence, he promptly contacted the Director of the Women and Child Development Department.
Financial Aid and Ongoing Investigations
The Chief Minister further explained that Vinodini and other children were receiving financial support under the sponsorship scheme of the Women and Child Development Department. He assured that the outstanding amount would be disbursed as soon as possible using the existing funds, with necessary instructions already in place. Meanwhile, authorities reported that Kerala Police arrested an individual on Saturday for allegedly threatening the Chief Minister and his family over the phone. The suspect, identified as Sony Thomas from Valakkad in Attingal, was taken into custody following a complaint lodged at the Cantonment Police Station in Thiruvananthapuram. The Cyber Cell has also initiated a parallel investigation to trace the digital footprints of the calls.
Details of the Threat
According to the FIR, the accused made repeated calls to the official caller ID number of the Thiruvananthapuram City District Police Command Center (DPCC) around 6:50 PM on Thursday. During these calls, he allegedly threatened the lives of V.D. Satheesan and his family members. Police officials reported that the suspect was apprehended shortly after the complaint was filed, and initial investigations confirmed that the same number had been used for multiple calls.
