Kejriwal Critiques PM Modi's Response to Paper Leak Issues
Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, raised concerns on Thursday regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement to establish fast-track courts for paper leak cases. He emphasized that this measure does not alleviate the worries of students and reiterated his demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In a post on X, Kejriwal stated that the Prime Minister's declaration this morning about setting up fast-track courts for paper leak cases raises questions about the fate of Pradhan's resignation.
Modi's remarks appeared to Kejriwal as those of a leader who seems defeated, directionless, yet arrogant. Criticizing the Prime Minister's announcement, Kejriwal argued that it falls short of addressing the students' demands and accused the central government of attempting to mislead them. He pointed out that fast-track courts already exist for serious offenses like rape and POCSO, but many of these courts either fail to conduct hearings or take longer than regular courts.
The AAP leader further alleged that the government's intention is to protect Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan rather than respond to the students' call for his resignation. He claimed that students protesting on this issue faced police action, including baton charges and tear gas, resulting in injuries that required hospitalization. Kejriwal mentioned that he visited some injured students at Jantar Mantar on Wednesday. He questioned why the Prime Minister has not shown empathy towards the students, noting that Modi comments on global events but remains silent on the struggles faced by students.
Additionally, he asserted that incidents of paper leaks occur annually, accusing the government of failing to implement substantial systemic reforms to prevent such occurrences or ensure secure examinations in the future. Kejriwal stated that while students have demanded Pradhan's resignation, the government has ignored this issue, indicating a lack of foresight. He warned that paper leak incidents are likely to continue next year, causing further difficulties for students. His recent tweet portrays a leader who is defeated, directionless, and arrogant.
