Kejriwal Questions BJP's Victory in West Bengal Amid Declining Popularity

Arvind Kejriwal has raised serious questions about the BJP's recent electoral victory in West Bengal, suggesting it contradicts the party's declining popularity. He expressed concerns over the integrity of the electoral process, citing his own experience with vote manipulation. Kejriwal's remarks come amid a broader discussion about the state of democracy in India, as he prepares to meet with the President to address the recent merger of several AAP MPs into the BJP. This article delves into the implications of these political developments.

Kejriwal Raises Concerns Over BJP's Recent Win

Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has expressed skepticism regarding the BJP's recent electoral success in West Bengal. This victory marks a significant moment for the party, which has struggled in the state historically dominated by Congress, leftist parties, and more recently, the Trinamool Congress. Kejriwal questioned how the BJP managed to gain a foothold in Bengal, particularly at a time when Prime Minister Modi's popularity is reportedly waning across various states.

BJP's Historical Struggles in Bengal

On social media, Kejriwal pointed out that in both Delhi and Bengal, the BJP failed to secure victories even during the peak of the 'Modi wave' in 2015 and 2016, respectively, winning only three seats in each region. He highlighted that the party's recent success came at a time when Modi's approval ratings were at a low, raising questions about the legitimacy of their win.

Concerns Over Democracy

During a rally, Kejriwal emphasized the looming crisis facing democracy in India, accusing the BJP of undermining democratic processes. He noted that the chaos observed in Bengal over the past few months mirrors similar tactics employed in Bihar and Maharashtra. Kejriwal recounted his own electoral experience, revealing that he lost a significant number of votes—42,000—after his imprisonment, which he attributed to the BJP's manipulative strategies.

AAP Delegation Meets President

Notable leaders in this group include Raghav Chadha, Harbhajan Singh, Ashok Mittal, Sandeep Pathak, Rajinder Gupta, Vikram Sahni, and Swati Maliwal.
