Kejriwal's Accusations Against Modi

On Saturday, Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of failing to safeguard India's interests. This statement comes in light of the U.S. Senate's efforts to pass a bill imposing strict sanctions on countries purchasing Russian oil and gas.

Kejriwal further alleged that Modi compromises India's interests by adhering to decisions made by former President Trump, claiming that Trump continuously interferes in the country's affairs.

Concerns Over U.S. Influence

In a post on X, Kejriwal expressed that Modi has put the nation in a precarious position by allowing it to be beholden to the U.S. and accepting Trump's influence, which he believes has led to national humiliation. He stated that Trump's involvement is evident in every significant decision affecting the country, with Modi complying with Trump's directives regardless of their validity.

This criticism follows the U.S. Senate's passage of the 'Russia Sanctions Bill,' named after the late Senator Lindsey Graham.

Details of the Sanctions Bill

The proposed legislation could impose tariffs of up to 100% on the top five countries, including China and India, that purchase crude oil and natural gas from Russia. The Senate approved the bill with a vote of 86 to 11, receiving bipartisan support. For it to become law, it now requires approval from the U.S. House of Representatives.

According to reports, the bill mandates sanctions against senior Russian government officials, including President Vladimir Putin, and foreign companies aiding Russia's defense industry. Countries importing less than 15% of Russia's total natural gas exports will be exempt from these sanctions.

Kejriwal's Call to Action

Additionally, Kejriwal urged citizens to refrain from purchasing petrol and diesel vehicles until the government clarifies its stance on E20 fuel. He claimed that the government has not conducted sufficient testing on E20, suggesting that its use has resulted in a 25-30% decrease in fuel efficiency for two-wheelers, motorcycles, scooters, cars, SUVs, and other four-wheel vehicles.
