Kejriwal's Strong Response to Violence in Gujarat

Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Chief Minister of Delhi, has condemned the alleged attack on an AAP candidate in Una, Gujarat, ahead of the local body elections. He emphasized that the people of Gujarat will no longer bow down to 'goondaism' and that change in the state is inevitable. In a post on X, Kejriwal expressed his hopes for the swift recovery of the injured candidate and stated that AAP fearlessly voices the concerns of the public, challenging those in power, which some may find intolerable. He affirmed that the citizens of Gujarat have resolved not to yield to intimidation and will claim their rights, insisting that this time, change will indeed come to Gujarat.

Reactions from AAP Leaders

Other senior leaders from AAP also strongly criticized the incident. Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh described the shooting of party candidate Ajay Bhai in Una as a sign of the horrors of violence and chaos, holding the ruling party accountable for such occurrences. Gopal Rai, another AAP leader, criticized the police for failing to file an FIR following the attack, accusing them of attempting to ensure uncontested victories for certain candidates through intimidation. He stated, 'Is it elections or goondaraj in Gujarat? It is shameful that no FIR has been registered after the deadly attack on our candidate in Una. First, there was a failed attempt to secure uncontested victories, and now they resort to gunfire to intimidate our candidates. The people of Gujarat will respond decisively to this BJP-led 'bloody game' and politics of fear.'

Details of the Incident

Previously, AAP had alleged that their candidate Ajay Bhai was injured in a shooting incident that occurred on Wednesday night. Isudan Gadhvi, the president of Gujarat AAP, shared images of Ajay from the hospital, indicating that he is currently receiving treatment. Gadhvi characterized the incident as an attempt by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to secure a one-sided victory in the Una municipal elections. He noted that the law and order situation in Gujarat has completely deteriorated, with Ajay Bhai now hospitalized and undergoing treatment. Gadhvi expressed pride in their candidate, stating that despite multiple attempts by the BJP to achieve uncontested victories in this municipal area, the AAP candidate has resolved to fight fearlessly. Praveen Ramji visited the hospital to check on the AAP candidate's condition.
