Kejriwal's Speech in Vadodara
On Monday, Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), spoke to a gathering of party booth workers in Vadodara, Gujarat. He commended citizens for speaking out openly, dispelling the fear instilled by the BJP, which has held power in Gujarat for the past three decades. Kejriwal remarked that Gujarat, once the wealthiest state, has been left impoverished by the BJP in just three years. He expressed joy at the growing courage among the populace to raise their voices against the ruling party.
Concerns Over Farmers' Arrests
Once regarded as the most prosperous state in the country, Gujarat has seen its citizens suffer under the BJP's governance. Kejriwal accused the party of plundering resources within a short span. He highlighted the ongoing protests in Hadda village, where peaceful demonstrators, including many farmers, have faced arrests. Over the past three months, the Gujarat government has detained 85 farmers who were protesting against the 'Kadha Pratha' system, demanding justice and rights for farmers. Kejriwal condemned the arrests of their leaders, Rajoo Karpada and Praveen Ram, emphasizing the unjust treatment of these impoverished farmers.
Solidarity with Arrested Farmers
Kejriwal mentioned that he met with the families of the arrested farmers, assuring them of AAP's unwavering support and readiness to stand with them, even if it meant facing imprisonment. He also called for a commitment to end the 'goondagardi' (hooliganism) in Gujarat, warning that as elections approach, central agencies like the ED and CBI would likely intensify their oppressive actions.
