Kejriwal Accuses Gujarat Government of Targeting AAP Workers Ahead of Local Elections

Arvind Kejriwal has accused the Gujarat government of orchestrating a campaign against AAP workers ahead of local elections. In a letter to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, he highlighted the registration of numerous cases and arrests of party members, claiming that the BJP is attempting to undermine AAP's growing popularity. Kejriwal's call for a meeting with Patel aims to address these serious allegations, as he warns of a potential crackdown on thousands of AAP activists. This situation raises significant concerns about political freedom and the integrity of the electoral process in Gujarat.

Allegations of Targeted Actions Against AAP

Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), sent a letter to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday, alleging that there has been a "systematic action" against party workers ahead of the local body elections in the state. He requested a meeting with Patel to discuss these concerns.

Kejriwal pointed out in his letter that over the past three months, 145 cases have been registered and more than 160 arrests made, claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led state government is specifically targeting AAP members.

He stated, "For the first time, people have found a strong and trustworthy alternative in AAP. The public recognizes that the Aam Aadmi Party is composed of educated, fearless, honest, and patriotic individuals who will never compromise with the BJP."

Kejriwal further noted, "This is why AAP's popularity has surged in Gujarat in recent years, and there is now widespread discussion about the BJP potentially losing power and AAP forming the government."

The AAP leader accused the BJP of attempting to weaken the party by arresting most of its leaders and workers, plotting to erase its existence.

Kejriwal emphasized, "Under this conspiracy, in just the last three months, 145 cases have been filed against AAP workers in Gujarat on the orders of the BJP government, and over 160 activists have been detained." He claimed that there are plans to arrest 10,000 AAP workers in the coming days.

He also alleged that police officers are visiting the homes of AAP leaders and workers, threatening them with severe consequences if they do not leave Gujarat.
