Kejriwal's Allegations Against BJP

The national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Arvind Kejriwal, accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday of unlawfully taking over Rajya Sabha seats that rightfully belong to the people of Punjab. This accusation surfaced following the defection of seven AAP MPs to the BJP. Kejriwal asserted that AAP would seek retribution for this alleged theft in the upcoming elections scheduled for February. While addressing party members in the capital, he stated that the seven individuals who left AAP have been taken by the BJP, claiming that these six Rajya Sabha seats were meant for the citizens of Punjab and have been unjustly appropriated by the BJP. His remarks were a response to BJP MP Raghav Chadha's accusations against the Punjab government, alleging that AAP was targeting former MPs who switched allegiance to the BJP. Chadha had previously met with President Droupadi Murmu, accusing the Punjab government of intimidating MPs and misusing state machinery to undermine their constitutional rights.

In a post shared on X, Chadha claimed that the AAP government in Punjab was engaging in a "dangerous game of revenge" by utilizing the vigilance and pollution boards. He further alleged that government funds were being used to hire agencies to threaten him and other MPs on social media. Meanwhile, Kejriwal expressed concerns over the BJP's actions, describing them as a "kidnapping and murder of democracy," citing the party's controversial victories in West Bengal and Assam as examples. He accused the BJP of employing tactics such as removing names from voter lists to weaken their opponents, particularly referencing the anticipated loss in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections.

Kejriwal remarked that if all votes are invalidated, nothing remains. He emphasized that this chaos is occurring nationwide. In West Bengal, the BJP achieved a historic victory by winning 206 seats, significantly surpassing its previous tally of 77 seats in the 2021 Assembly elections. The Trinamool Congress, which had won 212 seats in the last Assembly elections, secured second place with 80 seats.
