Kashmir's Shia Community Rallies in Support of Iran Amid Global Tensions
Peaceful Protests Erupt in Kashmir
Srinagar: In the wake of escalating protests against Iran's theocratic regime and potential military threats from the US, peaceful demonstrations unfolded across various regions in Kashmir following Friday prayers, according to officials.
Protests were notably held in Shia-majority areas of Srinagar, Pulwama, and Budgam, where participants chanted slogans supporting Iran while denouncing the US and Israel.
Officials confirmed that the protests remained non-violent.
On Thursday, activists reported that the Iranian government's violent crackdown had resulted in at least 2,637 fatalities, occurring just a week after the country was effectively isolated from the global community due to widespread protests against its theocracy.
In Srinagar, rallies took place near Nehru Park in Hassanabad and in the Gund Hassi Bhat neighborhoods, demonstrating solidarity with Iran and its Supreme Leader, Syed Ali Khamenei.
Protesters expressed their support for Iran while condemning what they described as 'external pressure' and 'interference' from foreign powers.
Participants carried placards and banners, chanting in favor of Iran and its leadership while opposing the US and Israel.
Similar demonstrations were observed at Main Chowk in Budgam and in the Gangoo area of Pulwama district in southern Kashmir.
A Shia leader in Pulwama remarked to reporters that the US and Israel, along with their allies, were perpetrating 'atrocities' against Muslims globally.
'Agents from Mossad and the CIA are attacking security forces and innocent civilians in Iran. We have united to protest against the injustices of America and Israel,' he stated.
The people of Kashmir aim to convey to the US and Israel that 'we are resilient, and Muslims worldwide stand ready to support their brothers in faith.'
