Senior Congress leader and former minister H.K. Patil informed a news agency on Friday that the CLP meeting is set for 4 PM on May 30.

Important Developments Ahead

All Congress legislators have been instructed to attend the meeting, where it is anticipated that outgoing Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar will be chosen as the next CLP leader, paving the way for his swearing-in as chief minister. Speaking to a news agency amidst the ongoing political changes in Karnataka, Patil stated that they are not seeking any positions in the new assembly.

When asked if he was interested in becoming the KPCC president, a minister, or the deputy chief minister, he replied that he has no aspirations for any position. He emphasized that his services will always be available at the suggestion of the Congress high command. Patil further noted that Siddaramaiah's resignation has strengthened the party, asserting that experienced leaders are at the forefront of discussions regarding the transition and formation of the new government.

Siddaramaiah's Future Role

Patil mentioned that Siddaramaiah is leading all changes and new developments. Regarding Siddaramaiah's future role, Patil indicated that the seasoned leader is not interested in entering national politics. He revealed that Siddaramaiah declined a Rajya Sabha seat proposed by the Congress leadership, as he wishes to remain active in state politics. Patil stated that the question of Siddaramaiah entering central politics is now off the table, but there will certainly be a position for him within the Congress party and the state.
