Karnataka, Saurashtra, Punjab, and Vidarbha Reach Vijay Hazare Trophy Semifinals

The Vijay Hazare Trophy semifinals are set with Karnataka, Saurashtra, Punjab, and Vidarbha advancing after impressive quarterfinal victories. Karnataka overcame Mumbai using the VJD method, while Saurashtra triumphed over Uttar Pradesh. Vijay Hazare Trophy Semifinals Set

The semifinals of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy have been confirmed with defending champions Karnataka, alongside Saurashtra, Punjab, and Vidarbha making the cut. Karnataka advanced after a victory over Mumbai using the VJD method, while Saurashtra also secured their place with a win against Uttar Pradesh. Punjab triumphed over Madhya Pradesh by a significant margin of 183 runs, and Vidarbha defeated Delhi by 76 runs.


Karnataka vs Mumbai

In the match between Karnataka and Mumbai, Karnataka managed to limit Mumbai to a score of 254/8, despite a commendable innings from Shams Mulani, who scored 86 runs off 91 balls. Rain interrupted the game, and according to the VJD method, Karnataka needed to score at least 133 runs to qualify. Bowlers Vidyadhar Patil (3 wickets for 42 runs) and Vidwath Kaverappa (2 wickets for 43 runs) played crucial roles in restricting Mumbai. Karnataka's chase saw Devdutt Padikkal scoring an unbeaten 81 runs off 95 balls, while Karun Nair contributed 74 runs, leading the team to 187/1 in just 33 overs.


Saurashtra vs Uttar Pradesh

In the quarterfinal clash between Saurashtra and Uttar Pradesh, Saurashtra opted to bowl first. Uttar Pradesh managed to post a total of 310/8 in their 50 overs, thanks to significant contributions from Abhishek Goswami (88 runs off 82 balls) and Sameer Rizvi (88* off 77 balls). For Saurashtra, Chetan Sakariya took 3 wickets for 54 runs. In response, Saurashtra's captain Harvik Desai scored a century (100* off 116 balls), supported by Prerak Mankad's 67 runs, as they chased down the target with a score of 238/3 in 40.1 overs.


Punjab vs Madhya Pradesh

In the third quarterfinal, Punjab faced Madhya Pradesh, who won the toss and chose to field. Punjab's innings was bolstered by fifties from Prabhsimran Singh (88 runs), Anmolpreet Singh (70 runs), Nehal Wadhera (56 runs), and Harnoor Singh (51 runs), leading them to a total of 345/6. Madhya Pradesh struggled in their chase, getting bowled out for just 162 runs in 31.2 overs, with Sanvir Singh taking 3 wickets for 31 runs.


Vidarbha vs Delhi

In the final quarterfinal, Vidarbha batted first against Delhi, scoring 300/9 in their 50 overs, thanks to Yash Rathod's 86 runs and Atharva Taide's 62 runs. Delhi's bowlers, including Ishant Sharma and Navdeep Saini, each took two wickets. Delhi's innings faltered as they lost half their team for just 123 runs. Anuj Rawat's 66 runs provided some resistance, but Vidarbha's Nachiketa Bhute (4 wickets) and Harsh Dubey (3 wickets) ensured Delhi was all out for 224 runs in 45.1 overs.
