Karnataka Police Seize Red Sandalwood Worth ₹1.75 Crore in Smuggling Bust

Karnataka police have uncovered two significant smuggling operations, resulting in the seizure of red sandalwood valued at ₹1.75 crore. Five individuals were arrested during this operation, which was initiated based on a tip-off. The police chief revealed that the wood was being transported from Andhra Pradesh, with one shipment destined for Tamil Nadu and another for Bengaluru. Four vehicles were also confiscated in connection with these cases. This operation highlights the ongoing efforts to combat illegal trafficking in the region.
 

Major Smuggling Operation Uncovered in Karnataka

In Karnataka, authorities have successfully dismantled two interstate smuggling operations, leading to the seizure of red sandalwood valued at ₹1.75 crore. This operation resulted in the arrest of five individuals, as reported by the police on Thursday.


According to police officials, the confiscation was executed based on a tip-off. The city’s police chief, Seemant Kumar Singh, informed reporters that the red sandalwood was seized near the boundaries of the Hulimavu and RT Nagar police stations, with the wood valued at ₹1 crore and ₹75 lakh respectively.


Both smuggling cases involved shipments originating from Andhra Pradesh. In one instance, the wood was destined for Tamil Nadu, while the other shipment was headed for Bengaluru. In total, five suspects have been apprehended, and four vehicles have been confiscated in connection with these cases.
