Yatindra Siddaramaiah, the Urban Development Minister of Karnataka, has openly criticized the calls for establishing a Hindu nation, referencing Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's warnings about the associated dangers. Speaking at the Karnataka Oppressed Community Federation conference on August 6 at the Channabasava Pattedewaru Theater in Bidar, he emphasized that communal forces aim to divide people along religious lines. He asserted that religion should remain a private matter, separate from politics.

Ambedkar's Warning on Hindu Nation

Siddaramaiah highlighted that Dr. Ambedkar had warned that if India were to become a Hindu nation, it would pose the greatest threat to the country. He urged the need to combat those who attempt to divide society using religion as a weapon. He stated, 'Only by fighting against these forces can we reclaim our rights and power. They are dividing us in the name of religion, and the caste system is deeply rooted in Hinduism.'

Caste System and Social Inequality

The minister argued that the caste system is ingrained in Hinduism and warned that establishing a Hindu nation would exacerbate social inequalities. He pointed out that the fundamental basis of Hinduism is the caste system, and its resurgence would lead to widespread exploitation. He cautioned that no minority would be spared, forcing them to live as second-class citizens. Creating a Hindu nation would mean reinstating a system of oppression.

Siddaramaiah emphasized that despite centuries of reform movements led by figures like Buddha, Basava, Ambedkar, and Kanakadas, religion has continued to endorse the caste system.
