Shivakumar's Upcoming Meetings in the National Capital

On Monday, D.K. Shivakumar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, announced his intention to meet with senior leaders of the Congress party in the national capital. While addressing media inquiries at the Karnataka Bhavan, he stated, "I need to meet with our senior leaders... I cannot disclose publicly who I will be meeting in Delhi." He added that he would be meeting with several individuals, noting, "You (the media) are reporting that I have gone to Delhi, but the leaders have not provided me with a time, so I will wait as well."

Details of His Visit

Shivakumar elaborated that his trip to Delhi followed a private event in Pune, where he attended a friend's wedding. Earlier that morning, he met with the Assam Pradesh Congress President in Delhi. "I arrived in Delhi yesterday after attending a wedding at my friend's house in Pune. Today, I had a meeting with the Assam Pradesh Congress President, and I have several meetings scheduled," he mentioned.

Dinner for Legislators

In celebration of his six-year tenure as the President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), Shivakumar has organized a dinner for all state legislators and members of the Legislative Council. "Tomorrow marks six years since I took on the role of KPCC President, and in this context, I have arranged a dinner for all legislators and council members. Additionally, another dinner will be held for our defeated candidates and district and block Congress presidents. Given the ongoing session, I have prioritized this dinner for the legislators," he stated.

Clarification on Speculations

When questioned about whether his visit to Delhi, despite being for a private event, would lead to separate discussions, Shivakumar clarified, "There will be no separate discussions. There is no need for speculation. Tomorrow (Tuesday) is the dinner, and the day after is the Congress legislative party meeting." Regarding the announcement of 42 candidates for the Assam elections, he noted that the list had already been released and that another selection committee meeting was scheduled for today. "I am not part of that committee. My responsibilities lie elsewhere," he concluded.
