On Thursday, D.K. Shivakumar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, clarified that his recent meeting with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was part of ongoing political discussions and should not be overanalyzed.

Shivakumar mentioned a post he shared on 'X', stating, 'Efforts may fail, but prayers do not.' This message was related to developments in the Cauvery dispute.

He explained, 'Due to my petition, the Cauvery matter has taken a new turn in court. The court has instructed the central government to make a decision regarding the Mekedatu balancing reservoir issue. Hence, I tweeted this.'


Addressing Media Speculations

Shivakumar dismissed various interpretations made by journalists regarding his meeting with Rahul Gandhi during his visit to Mysuru before heading to Tamil Nadu. He confirmed that they had a conversation but refrained from disclosing details, stating, 'What we discussed is between us.'

He announced plans to travel to Delhi on Friday, where he is scheduled to meet Rahul Gandhi to discuss the Assam assembly elections.


Regarding his meeting with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Shivakumar noted that welcoming the national president during state visits is part of party protocol. He also responded to questions about the excitement among Rahul Gandhi's supporters, saying he was unaware of such reactions.

Shivakumar remarked, 'My meeting with Rahul Gandhi is not a new occurrence. I am not sure who informed you otherwise. My interactions with party leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi are not matters for public discussion.'
