CM Announces Rewards and Government Jobs
Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has declared rewards for the members of India's blind women's cricket team, who recently triumphed in the Blind Women's T20 World Cup. Each player from Karnataka will receive a cash prize of ₹10 lakh and a government job, while players from other states will be awarded ₹2 lakh each. This announcement will benefit a total of 13 players from outside Karnataka. Congratulating the team, Siddaramaiah expressed on social media, "Congratulations to the members of India's blind women's cricket team, the World Cup winners, and best wishes for their future sporting endeavors filled with success."
He also acknowledged the significant role of the team's captain, Deepika, from Shira in Tumakuru district. "Every cricket talent from Karnataka will receive a cash prize of ₹10 lakh along with a government job. Players from other states in the Indian team will each receive ₹2 lakh," he stated.
India's Dominant Final Performance
In the final match, India chose to field first and restricted Nepal to a score of 114/5 in 20 overs. The Indian batting lineup chased down the 115-run target effortlessly, scoring 100 runs within the first 10 overs, eliminating any threat. Opener Phula Saren made a notable contribution with 44 runs off 27 balls, including four boundaries, while Karuna K added a quick 42 runs off 27 balls, leading India to victory in just the 13th over.
Undefeated Tournament Run
Saren was named Player of the Match for her outstanding performance. This victory marks a significant achievement for the India Blind women's cricket team, as they remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. India began their campaign with a win against Sri Lanka, followed by a 57-run victory over Australia. They also defeated their arch-rivals Pakistan by successfully chasing down a target of 136 runs in just 10.2 overs. In the semi-final, they dominated Australia by nine wickets and clinched the trophy with a decisive win over Nepal.
