Siddaramaiah Rejects Rajya Sabha Offer

On Thursday, Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced his decision to decline a seat in the Rajya Sabha, expressing a lack of interest in national politics. This declaration came after he submitted his resignation letter to the special secretary of the Governor, Prabhushankar, at the Lok Bhavan.

The senior Congress leader revealed that the party's high command had extended the offer for a Rajya Sabha position, but he graciously turned it down, stating his commitment to remaining active in Karnataka's political landscape for the remaining two years of his legislative term.

Commitment to State Politics

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Siddaramaiah reiterated that he had no desire to engage in national politics and preferred to focus on state affairs. He expressed gratitude towards the Congress leadership, including Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Rahul Gandhi, for the opportunity to serve as Chief Minister twice.

He confirmed his resignation from the Chief Minister's position, expressing confidence that the Governor would accept it in accordance with constitutional provisions. Siddaramaiah mentioned that he had previously stated he would resign whenever the party leadership requested it, which occurred two days prior.

Achievements and Future Plans

During his resignation announcement, Siddaramaiah was accompanied by Shivakumar and other cabinet colleagues. He emphasized that he would continue to serve in state politics, as he still has two years left in his term as a legislator. He also highlighted that approximately 300 out of 550 promises made have been fulfilled, including the implementation of five guarantees, asserting that he has never wavered from his commitments.
