Karan Singh Secures Doubles Title
Karan Singh, an athlete from the Roundglass Tennis Academy (RGTA), has successfully claimed the doubles championship at the ITF Men's World Tennis Tour M15 event held at the National Tennis Centre in Astana, Kazakhstan. This victory marks Karan's sixth title in his ITF career and his third in doubles.
Teaming up with Russian player Martin Borisiouk, the duo triumphed over the local team of Danial Rakhmatullayev and Damir Zhalgasbay, winning decisively with scores of 6-3, 6-2.
Impressive Journey Through the Tournament
The unseeded Indo-Russian team had an impressive tournament, starting with a significant upset against the fourth-seeded Russian pair, Nikita Ianin and Andrei Kunitsyn, winning 6-1, 2-6, 10-2 in a tie-break.
In the quarterfinals, they faced another Russian duo, Sviatoslav Lutkovskii and Evgeny Philippov, and emerged victorious with a score of 6-1, 2-6, 10-8, again going to a tie-break.
The semifinals saw them up against the top-seeded team of Chirag Duhan from India and Muzammil Murtaza from Pakistan. In a thrilling match that also went to a tie-break, Karan and Martin secured their spot in the final with a score of 6-3, 3-6, 10-7.
Karan Singh's Notable Achievements
Currently ranked seventh in men's singles in India, Karan previously won the ITF M15 Hyderabad earlier this year and was part of the Indian team that achieved a historic victory over The Netherlands in the Davis Cup Qualifiers held in Bengaluru in February.
The doubles title in Astana is particularly significant for Karan as it is his first on hard courts; his earlier doubles victories in Tehran (2025) and Brazaville (2024) were on clay.
