Sibal Critiques Modi's Self-Assessment

New Delhi: On Sunday, Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his recent comments made during a speech at the Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC). Sibal asserted that the Prime Minister cannot evaluate his own performance, emphasizing that it is the citizens who will ultimately judge him.

Sibal, who is also a prominent lawyer, took issue with Modi's claim of providing a 'homoeopathic' remedy from the Red Fort, stating that students have concluded that such measures will not bring about any real change.

He pointed out Modi's inappropriate reference to protesting students as 'Dimagi Naxals', questioning the Prime Minister's authority to label them while also condemning the police's treatment of these young individuals.

Sibal remarked that it is unbecoming of a Prime Minister to use such language, especially when students are facing violence from law enforcement.

He further argued that the country's issues require substantial solutions rather than superficial fixes, likening the situation to needing surgery instead of homoeopathy.

During his address, Modi claimed that the nation is more secure now than it was in 2013, but Sibal countered this by highlighting the growing unrest among certain groups.

Modi had likened his approach to homoeopathy, suggesting that initial reactions may worsen before improvement occurs, but Sibal dismissed this analogy as inadequate.

Sibal expressed confusion over how Modi could present his own report card, stating that such evaluations should be conducted by others, not the individual in question.

He criticized the government's inability to manage basic examinations, questioning its capacity to govern effectively.

Sibal also challenged Modi's claims regarding economic growth and inflation, pointing out the rising prices of essential goods despite the government's assertions.

He expressed concern over the employment crisis and questioned the Prime Minister's portrayal of normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir, urging for the restoration of statehood.

Sibal accused Modi of failing in various areas, including foreign policy and economic management, and highlighted the ongoing issues of violence against marginalized communities.

He concluded by recalling Modi's past statements against communal politics, accusing him of hypocrisy for engaging in such tactics.
