On Monday, Kanhaiya Kumar, a prominent leader of the Congress party, was granted significant relief by a special court in Begusarai, Bihar. He received bail in connection with a case related to the violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Following the court's decision, Kumar labeled the allegations against him as completely unfounded and politically motivated.

Kumar explained, "This case dates back to the 2019 elections when someone placed my poster on a government building. The administration filed a case against me for violating the MCC. The accusation is baseless; I did not personally put up the poster."

Bail Conditions

After Kumar surrendered in court, Special Judge Vivek Chandra Verma released him upon the submission of two bail bonds of ₹10,000 each. This case was registered against him during the 2019 elections when he contested from the Begusarai seat on a CPI ticket.

Speaking to reporters, Kumar remarked, "The opposition is frequently accused of violating the Model Code of Conduct. However, those in power regularly breach it and act aggressively against the Constitution without facing any repercussions. I hope to receive justice from the court."

An FIR was lodged against Kumar at the Bachhwara police station during the elections. This case pertains to the unauthorized posting of a poster on a house in Rudawali village.

Following an investigation, the police submitted a charge sheet against Kumar in court. After taking cognizance of the charge sheet, the court initiated proceedings to ensure his appearance.

Kumar Calls for SIT Investigation in Ram Temple Donation Case

In a separate matter, Kanhaiya Kumar recently referred to the Ram Temple donation theft as a "great sin" and demanded the immediate dissolution of the trust managing the worship site. During a press conference, Kumar stated, "A theft has occurred. A significant sin has taken place in the temple. Those responsible for the theft must be apprehended without any conditions."

He accused the SIT's leadership of being a person facing fraud charges, questioning, "Can a thief be trusted to prevent theft?" and "Can a cat be asked to guard the milk?"
