The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in Kangra, located in Dharamshala, is set to launch the “Safe Childhood Campaign” from October 27 to October 31, 2026. This initiative is part of a nationwide effort spearheaded by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) to raise awareness in schools.

The primary goal of this campaign is to inform students about their rights, personal safety, online security, and the legal protections provided under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.

Throughout the week, DLSA Kangra will collaborate with local schools and various stakeholders to host a range of awareness activities across the district. These activities will include school assemblies, interactive discussions, educational presentations, creative contests, and other programs tailored to help children comprehend their rights and identify safe versus unsafe behaviors.

A significant aspect of the campaign is to empower children to report any abuse or misconduct without fear, while also educating them about the legal aid services and child protection mechanisms available to them. The initiative aims to enhance awareness regarding personal safety and legal protections through engaging and age-appropriate activities.

According to DLSA Kangra, this campaign underscores their dedication to creating a safe, informed, and supportive environment for children. By enhancing awareness of legal protections and encouraging the prevention and timely reporting of offenses against minors, the authority aims to contribute to a safer future for the youth.

This campaign is part of a larger national strategy to equip children with knowledge about their rights and ensure their protection through education, awareness, and access to legal support.
