The Kangra district administration is expediting the displacement process associated with the Gaggal Airport expansion initiative. On Friday, officials issued evacuation orders to families residing in Mohal Rachiyalu, who have already received ₹37 lakh each as part of the compensation package for land, trees, and housing under the Rehabilitation & Resettlement (R&R) scheme. Formal notices were distributed in the village, mandating immediate relocation.
Important Meeting at Panchayat Ghar A significant meeting took place at the Rachiyalu Panchayat Ghar, featuring the presence of SDM Kangra, SDM Shahpur, DTDO Vinay Dhiman from the rehabilitation department, members of the R&R team, officials from the Special Land Acquisition Department, and local Panchayat representatives. Officials emphasized that compulsory land acquisition had been executed in October 2024, and families who have received full compensation are required to vacate their residences without delay.
Update from the Project Coordinator Project Coordinator Ranjit Thakur stated that the R&R process is nearing completion. He mentioned, “Once the compensated families leave their homes, the site will be transferred to the construction agency. This will accelerate work on the 3,010-meter runway, with the goal of finishing the project on schedule.”
Instructions from Authorities Officials urged families to adhere to the evacuation orders promptly to facilitate the smooth advancement of the expansion project. Additionally, the administration announced that similar actions will take place tomorrow in Mohal Kyodia, where notices will be issued to the affected families.
