The administration of Kangra district has initiated HPV vaccination camps designed to protect young girls from cervical cancer. Dr. Vivek Kumar Karol, the Chief Medical Officer, announced that this program is being implemented under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa, ensuring effective collaboration among various departments to maximize outreach.

During a recent meeting at the district level, Dr. Karol stressed the significance of timely vaccination, stating that the HPV vaccine is most beneficial when given to girls aged 9 to 14. He remarked, “This initiative is vital for safeguarding our daughters' health and alleviating the future incidence of cervical cancer in our community.”

The vaccination camps will be set up in schools, health facilities, and community centers throughout Kangra, with assistance from Zonal Hospital Dharamshala and local health officials. Parents are encouraged to take their daughters for vaccination and to learn about the long-term advantages of HPV prevention.

Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa reaffirmed the administration's dedication to the successful implementation of this campaign. “We have established a specialized committee to manage logistics, awareness initiatives, and inter-departmental collaboration. Our aim is to ensure that every eligible adolescent girl in Kangra receives the vaccine,” he stated.

Cervical cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related fatalities among women in India. Administering the HPV vaccine at the appropriate age provides robust protection against the virus strains most frequently associated with cervical cancer. This initiative in Kangra is in line with national health objectives aimed at decreasing cervical cancer cases through preventive vaccination.

For more details, families should reach out to their local health center or school authorities for information on upcoming vaccination schedules.
