The Kangra district has made notable strides in the ongoing 100-Day TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 2.0, with extensive outreach and screening initiatives taking place in high-risk villages and urban areas.
During a review of the campaign's first 50 days, CMO Kangra Dr. Vivek Karol reported that 126 Ayushman Arogya Shivirs have been conducted, reaching 126 out of the targeted 956 vulnerable villages and wards. These shivirs operate daily, including on holidays, and offer screening for non-communicable diseases along with chest X-rays.
In the pursuit of identifying active TB cases, 7,475 chest X-rays were performed during these shivirs, in addition to 10,587 X-rays conducted at established health facilities. The campaign aims to serve a vulnerable population of 5.88 lakh individuals throughout the district.
Notably, women represented nearly 60% of those screened, while men accounted for 40%. Among the health blocks, Dadasiba led in the number of shivirs, followed by Indora and Fatehpur. The average attendance was 62 beneficiaries per shivir, indicating an increase in awareness and service utilization.
District Health Officer & TB Officer Dr. R.K. Sood emphasized that the campaign prioritizes the early identification of TB in asymptomatic and at-risk populations, utilizing chest X-rays followed by immediate NAAT testing.
The district administration and health department commended the unwavering commitment of frontline workers, TB Health Visitors, radiographers, and community volunteers, who are pivotal in ensuring the campaign's success, even in challenging and remote areas.
Officials reiterated that ongoing community engagement, Jan Bhagidari, and proactive screening are essential to realizing the goal of a TB-Mukt Bharat.
