K. Annamalai Confident of NDA Victory in Tamil Nadu Elections
NDA's Promising Prospects in Tamil Nadu
On Wednesday, BJP leader K. Annamalai expressed strong confidence in the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) success, predicting that EPS will become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu this time. He stated that there is a solid belief in Coimbatore and across Tamil Nadu that the NDA will secure a significant majority. Annamalai emphasized that the people of Tamil Nadu are yearning for change and wish to see the DMK out of power. He mentioned being in Singanallur, where the current MLA K.R. Jayaram has earned the trust of the public, being a senior leader of the AIADMK. The support during their campaign has been overwhelming in the areas they are visiting. Annamalai is hopeful that Edappadi K. Palaniswami will emerge as the Chief Minister with a substantial majority.
Commenting on Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's opposition to the Women's Reservation Bill, Annamalai suggested that Stalin is already anticipating defeat in the upcoming 2026 assembly elections, which is why he is politicizing this proposal. He further remarked that the Chief Minister tends to engage in politics over trivial matters. The women of Tamil Nadu have made it clear that they want 33% reservation implemented as soon as possible. Annamalai believes that Stalin's decision to politicize this issue stems from his evident fear of losing.
These remarks come at a crucial time as Tamil Nadu is set to hold voting in a single phase on April 23, with counting scheduled for May 4. The elections are expected to see a fierce contest between the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA), which includes the Indian National Congress, Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMK), and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), and the NDA, led by AIADMK, which has allies such as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK).
