K. Annamalai Advocates True Hindu Values at 'We the Leaders' Conference
Promoting Equality and Unity
K. Annamalai, the former president of the Tamil Nadu BJP, emphasized that a true Hindu is one who perceives everyone as equals, embraces all, and does not regard anyone as superior or inferior. Speaking at the inaugural conference of his 'We the Leaders' foundation in Pollachi, near Coimbatore, he expressed pride in being a nationalist and an Indian. The foundation chose to focus its first rally on a campaign against substance abuse.
Views on Religion and Caste
While sharing his thoughts on religion and caste, Annamalai identified himself as a Hindu but stated that he leaves his caste and religion behind when stepping outside his home. He stressed that there is no need to constantly showcase one's religion. According to him, the essence of true Hindu philosophy is for everyone to walk together in a straight line, without anyone considering themselves superior or others as inferior.
Youth Empowerment in Politics
Reflecting on the recent Tamil Nadu assembly elections, he noted that young voters under 39 years old played a pivotal role in bringing about a change in power. He mentioned that the party led by actor C. Joseph Vijay, Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), established in 2024, emerged as the largest party in the 2026 assembly elections. Annamalai predicted that in the next assembly elections in 2031, this age group would initiate another significant shift in power.
Voluntary Participation in Campaigns
Annamalai clarified that no pressure should be exerted on anyone to join his campaign. Participation should be entirely voluntary, based on the work done by him and his team. He announced that over the next six months, awareness campaigns will be conducted on six critical issues, including environmental concerns.
Resolutions Against Substance Abuse
During the conference aimed at combating substance abuse, six significant resolutions were passed to prevent drug and alcohol misuse. Organizers revealed that from now on, July will be celebrated as 'White Band' month, where individuals will pledge to stay away from substances and raise awareness among others. Known for his aggressive political style, Annamalai recently left the BJP, and this conference marked his first major public event since parting ways with the party.
