Judicial Custody of 26/11 Attack Suspect Tahawwur Rana Extended Until July
Court Decision on Tahawwur Rana's Custody
New Delhi: A court in Delhi has decided to prolong the judicial custody of Tahawwur Hussain Rana, who is implicated in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, until July 9.
The ruling was made by Special Judge Chander Jit Singh after Rana appeared via video link following the conclusion of his previous custody period.
During the proceedings, the judge requested a health status update from Tihar Jail by June 9, in response to concerns raised by Rana's attorney regarding his health.
Rana, who has connections with David Coleman Headley, the primary conspirator of the attacks and a US national, was extradited to India after the US Supreme Court rejected his plea against extradition on April 4.
He was placed in judicial custody last month.
On November 26, 2008, ten terrorists from Pakistan executed a series of coordinated attacks across Mumbai, targeting a railway station, two luxury hotels, and a Jewish center, having infiltrated the city via the sea.
The tragic incident resulted in the deaths of 166 individuals over a span of nearly 60 hours.
