Judicial Appointments and ADR Progress

On Wednesday, Arjun Ram Meghwal, the Union Minister of Law and Justice, announced that a significant number of judicial appointments are expected in 2025. He emphasized that the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism performed well last year and will play a crucial role in addressing humanitarian issues.


In an interview, Meghwal, who also served as the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, mentioned that bills related to reforms from various ministries have been introduced in Parliament, with efforts made to pass them through mediation in the House. He reiterated the importance of ADR in resolving humanitarian matters.


Significant Judicial Appointments This Year

Discussing the Ministry of Law and Justice, Meghwal noted that there has been a commendable number of judicial appointments this year, with a clear emphasis on diversity in the appointment of judges in several High Courts. The ADR mechanism has shown promising results in 2025, with successful conferences on mediation held, including an international conference in Mandapam, India. He stated that ADR will be pivotal in resolving humanitarian issues, and significant progress has been made in this direction.

Regarding the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, various bills related to reforms have been presented, and efforts have been made to pass them through the House in Parliament. Meghwal considers this a significant achievement, as reforms in the economic sector, rural development, and Panchayati Raj have progressed rapidly.
