Jubin Garg Case: Key Accused Seek Bail Amid Ongoing Investigation

Bail Applications Filed by Key Accused in Jubin Garg's Death

In the case surrounding the death of Assam singer Jubin Garg, two of the main accused, Shyamkanu Mahanta and the singer's bodyguard Nandeshwar Bora, submitted bail applications on Saturday, as confirmed by Garg's wife.

Speaking to reporters outside the Kamrup Metropolitan District and Sessions Court, Garima Saikia Garg emphasized that all individuals present on the boat at the time of her husband's death should be included in the Assam government's investigation.

The renowned singer tragically passed away under mysterious circumstances while swimming in Singapore on September 19 last year. He was attending the fourth edition of the Northeast India Festival (NEIF), which was primarily organized by Mahanta.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Assam government has arrested seven individuals in connection with Garg's death. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has labeled the incident as murder.

However, Singapore police have dismissed any allegations of conspiracy, stating in court on Wednesday that the popular Indian singer-songwriter was intoxicated and had refused to wear a life jacket, leading to his drowning near Lazarus Island.

After observing the court proceedings, Garg's wife remarked, “Today (Saturday), two other accused filed bail petitions, bringing the total number of individuals seeking bail to five. This time, Shyamkanu Mahanta and Nandeshwar Bora have submitted their applications.” Previously, Sandipan Garg, Amrit Prabha Mahanta, and Prabin Baishya had also filed for bail.
