JSW Motors' Upcoming Launch in India

New Delhi. A significant player is about to enter the Indian automotive sector—JSW Motors. The company is slated to officially launch on December 4, introducing a robust SUV that will compete directly with the Toyota Fortuner. In the following months, JSW plans to unveil a total of four new SUVs in the Indian market.

Notably, JSW will collaborate with the renowned Chinese automaker Chery for the design and technology of its initial vehicles. These models will be assembled locally at JSW's plant in Maharashtra, ensuring both cost-effectiveness and high quality.

First Model: JSW Combat

The inaugural offering from the company will be the ‘JSW Combat’, a stylish SUV inspired by the internationally available ‘Jetour T2’. It is expected to feature a powerful 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine, complemented by an electric motor and an 18.4kWh battery. This plug-in hybrid setup could deliver a total power output of around 360bhp and torque of 610Nm.

Second Model: Chery iCaur V23

Following that, the second major launch will be the ‘Chery iCaur V23’, a modern electric SUV designed to appeal to younger consumers with its muscular and boxy aesthetics. This electric vehicle may come equipped with a 15.4-inch touchscreen and automatic climate control, among other premium features. In international markets, it offers two battery options of 59.93kWh and 81.76kWh, with the larger battery variant boasting a driving range of approximately 510 kilometers.

Third Model: Jaecoo J5 EV

The third vehicle will be the ‘Jaecoo J5 EV’, which is expected to compete with electric models like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti e-Vitara, and Mahindra BE 6 in India. Anticipated features include a large touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and advanced safety features such as Level-2 ADAS. Its single-charge range is projected to be between 400 to 460 kilometers.

Fourth Model: Jaecoo J5 Hybrid

Lastly, the ‘Jaecoo J5 Hybrid’ will be introduced as a strong hybrid model. This variant is expected to combine a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine with an electric motor and a 1.83kWh battery, yielding an estimated power output of 224bhp and torque of 295Nm. The front design of this hybrid version will differ significantly from its electric counterpart, featuring an attractive large grille.
