Joseph Duggar Faces Child Sexual Abuse Charges in Florida
Joseph Duggar Arrested on Serious Charges
Joseph Duggar, a former reality TV star from the United States, has been charged with offenses related to child sexual abuse, as detailed in an arrest affidavit from Florida. The 31-year-old was taken into custody in Tontitown, Arkansas, on Thursday. Following a court-sanctioned extradition request, authorities in Bay County, Florida, have a 30-day window to transfer him from Washington County custody.
Documents acquired by a media outlet reveal that Duggar is accused of engaging in lewd and lascivious behavior with a child under 12 years old. The affidavit indicates that Duggar confessed to inappropriate conduct during a recorded phone conversation on March 17, 2026. This call was set up at the request of an investigator from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office after local law enforcement reported that Duggar had previously spoken with the child's father.
During the call, Duggar allegedly admitted to having "touched the victim over her clothing" and recognized that his "intentions were not pure." The case also references a forensic interview with the now 14-year-old alleged victim, conducted by police in Tontitown. She recounted several incidents at a vacation home where Duggar purportedly invited her to sit on his lap and held her close.
According to the affidavit, she stated that he later asked her to sit next to him on a couch, covered them with a blanket, and touched her thighs. She reported that his hand moved progressively higher, at times "grazing" her genital area, which left her feeling "uncomfortable and confused." The document notes that Duggar later apologized to the girl, after which the alleged incidents reportedly ceased.
Kendra Duggar, Joseph's wife, has also been charged in relation to this case. Both face four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and false imprisonment. Duggar gained fame through family-oriented television shows, including 'Counting On.' He has been married since 2017 and the couple has four children. This case follows previous legal troubles involving his brother, Josh Duggar.
