In an impressive display, opener Jordan Hermann scored a remarkable 150 runs off just 126 balls during his ODI debut against Namibia in Windhoek, matching the record for the highest score by a player on their first ODI appearance.

Partnership and Acceleration

Hermann's outstanding innings included 17 boundaries and three sixes, equaling the achievement of his teammate Matthew Breetzke, who also scored 150 on his ODI debut last year. Having made his T20I debut earlier this year, Hermann received his first ODI cap for this series opener, partnering with Connor Esterhuizen at the top of the order. Following an early wicket for South Africa, Hermann teamed up with seasoned player Tony de Zorzi to mount a strong counterattack, forming a substantial 190-run partnership off just 167 balls.

Hermann reached his half-century in 61 balls and then accelerated dramatically, scoring his next 50 runs in just 32 balls to secure his maiden ODI century. The 23-year-old continued his aggressive batting, moving from 100 to 150 in another 32 balls, making him only the second player to achieve 150 runs on ODI debut.

Hermann's record-equalling innings concluded on the very next ball when Ruben Trumpelmann took his wicket. De Zorzi supported well with a solid 72 runs, while contributions from Dewald Brevis (33) and Corbin Bosch (39) enabled South Africa to set a challenging total of 348.
