ICC Test Rankings Update

The ICC has released the latest Test player rankings on Wednesday. In this update, England's star batsman Joe Root has regained his position from compatriot Harry Brook, becoming the number one Test batsman once again with a rating of 888 points. Root scored a century and contributed 40 runs in the Test against India at Lord's. Brook had overtaken Root last week but has now dropped to third place following a disappointing performance at Lord's, where he has 862 points. New Zealand's formidable batsman Kane Williamson holds the second position.

Impact on Indian Players

Meanwhile, three Indian batsmen, including captain Shubman Gill, have faced a setback in the rankings. Gill has fallen three spots to ninth place with 765 points after scoring only 22 runs in the third Test at Lord's. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (801) and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant (779) also lost one position each. Jaiswal managed just 13 runs in the match and did not score in the second innings, while Pant scored 74 runs in the first innings but returned with only 9 runs in the second. India narrowly lost to England by 22 runs, putting England ahead 2-1 in the five-match series.

Nitish Kumar Reddy's Rise

On a positive note for Team India, all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has seen a significant rise in the rankings. Although he did not make a notable contribution with the bat in the Lord's Test, he played a crucial role with the ball. Reddy has jumped 25 places in the ICC Test all-rounder rankings, now sitting at 62nd with 65 ranking points. Additionally, England's fast bowler Brydon Carse has also improved his ranking, moving up 14 spots to joint 26th.

Ravindra Jadeja Maintains Top Position

Ravindra Jadeja continues to hold the top spot among all-rounders with 409 rating points. Despite not showcasing exceptional bowling skills in the three Tests against England, he has impressed with his batting, having scored four half-centuries so far.
