Jemimah Rodrigues Set for International Comeback After Injury Recovery
Jemimah Rodrigues Cleared for International Return
Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues has confirmed her recovery from a hamstring injury that sidelined her since August. The injury occurred on August 3 while she was playing for Southern Brave in The Hundred tournament held in Cardiff. Following evaluations by the BCCI medical team, it was determined that she had suffered a high-grade tear, which prevented her from participating in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup in the UAE and the Asian Games in Japan, both of which India won. Additionally, the 25-year-old missed the recent home series against Zimbabwe, where India achieved a clean sweep with 3-0 victories in both ODI and T20I formats.
Recovery Progress and Future Plans
On Friday, Rodrigues took to Instagram to share positive news regarding her recovery, stating that her hamstring has been cleared after three months of rehabilitation. She expressed her eagerness to return to the field, saying, "Hamstring has been declared fit. After 3 months of rehab. Now I can’t wait to get going."
Career Contributions and Upcoming Series
Rodrigues ranks as India’s fourth-highest run-scorer in women’s T20 internationals, with a total of 2,824 runs at a strike rate of 119. As a vital member of the Indian middle order, she has made significant contributions across various formats. Her last appearance for the national team was during a match against Australia at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England last June. She is now looking forward to making her return during India’s upcoming multi-format tour of South Africa in December, which will include a one-off Test, three ODIs, and three T20Is.
