Jemimah Rodrigues Excluded from Fourth T20I Due to Fever
Indian cricket star Jemimah Rodrigues will not participate in the fourth T20I of the five-match series against Sri Lanka Women, as announced by the BCCI Women. The board confirmed that Rodrigues is sidelined due to weakness caused by a mild fever.
The BCCI's medical team is actively monitoring her recovery process. They stated, "Jemimah Rodrigues was unavailable for selection in the 4th T20I in Thiruvananthapuram due to weakness arising from mild fever. The BCCI Medical Team is closely monitoring her progress and recovery," via a post on X.
Sri Lanka Chooses to Bowl; India Holds 3-0 Series Lead
In the earlier match, Sri Lanka Women's captain Chamari Athapaththu won the toss and opted to bowl first in the fourth T20I against the Indian team led by Harmanpreet Kaur. Historically, India Women and Sri Lanka Women have clashed 29 times in T20I cricket, with India winning 23 matches and losing five, while one match ended without a result.
Currently, India leads the five-match T20I series 3-0, having won the first match by eight wickets, the second by seven wickets, and the third by eight wickets. Sri Lanka will aim to recover in this fourth T20I.
Chamari Athapaththu Achieves Milestone in T20I Cricket
On another note, Sri Lanka's captain Chamari Athapaththu made history by becoming the first player from her country to participate in 150 T20I matches, as reported by ESPNcricinfo. She reached this milestone during the fourth T20I against India Women in Thiruvananthapuram.
In her T20I career, Athapaththu has accumulated 3,507 runs with an average of 25.23 and a strike rate of 109.97, which includes three centuries and 13 half-centuries. As a bowler, she has taken 63 wickets at an average of 25.73 and an economy rate of 6.62, with one four-wicket haul to her credit.
