New York: Vice President JD Vance has indicated that President Donald Trump has yet to finalize any decisions regarding potential tariffs on China for its oil purchases from Russia. He noted that the complexities of US-China relations extend beyond the current Russian context.

In an interview with Fox News Sunday, Vance stated, "The President mentioned he is considering it, but no definitive choices have been made yet." This comment came in response to inquiries about whether Trump would impose similar tariffs on China, akin to the significant levies already placed on India for its Russian oil imports.

Vance elaborated, saying, "The situation with China is more intricate, as our relationship with them influences various other matters unrelated to Russia." He confirmed that Trump is currently evaluating his options before making a decision.

Previously, the US had enacted a 25% reciprocal tariff on India, and just last week, Trump added another 25% levy on Indian purchases of Russian oil, raising the total tariffs on India to 50%, one of the highest rates imposed by the US on any nation.

This additional tariff is set to take effect on August 27.

India has condemned this action as "unfair, unjustified, and unreasonable." The Ministry of External Affairs expressed disappointment, stating, "It is extremely unfortunate that the US has opted to impose further tariffs on India," and assured that India would take necessary measures to safeguard its national interests.
