Patna, Oct 5: JD(U) candidate Neeraj Kumar is preparing to submit his nomination for the Bihar Legislative Council elections scheduled for October 23. The party is optimistic about the NDA's prospects, asserting that it will secure all eight available seats in what they describe as a largely unchallenged election.

The Election Commission of India has confirmed the date for these biennial elections, which will fill eight seats in the Bihar Legislative Council.

Umesh Kushwaha, the president of JD(U) in Bihar, expressed strong confidence that the NDA will achieve victory across all eight seats.

“We anticipate a one-sided victory for the NDA. There is no real competition. The NDA's performance in the 2025 Assembly elections speaks volumes. Our confidence stems from the trust our workers have in us,” Kushwaha stated.

JD(U) spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan also voiced his support for Neeraj Kumar, emphasizing his potential to maintain the party's successful trajectory.

“Neeraj Kumar will uphold our winning tradition. His dedication to the party and the public, along with his vocal presence in the Legislative Council, has established him as a well-regarded leader since the party's inception, which will certainly aid him in this election,” he remarked.

The elections for the Teacher and Graduate constituencies of the Legislative Council have sparked significant interest even prior to the nomination phase, with emerging tensions within both the NDA and the Grand Alliance.

Within the NDA, internal disagreements have arisen in JD(U) regarding the Patna Graduate constituency, while the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), a vital NDA ally, has expressed dissatisfaction over not receiving a seat allocation.

This contest has gained additional importance due to the ongoing conflict between JD(U) MLA Anant Singh from Mokama and Neeraj Kumar. Neeraj recently sought the blessings of JD(U) national president Nitish Kumar, a meeting viewed as pivotal ahead of the MLC election. Following this, Neeraj confirmed his intention to file his nomination on October 5.

The rivalry between Anant Singh and Neeraj Kumar has escalated, with Anant asserting his determination to ensure Neeraj's defeat, even if it means risking his own position within the party.

In a show of support, Nishant Kumar, Bihar's Health Minister and son of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, called on young party members to rally behind Neeraj Kumar and actively campaign for his success.

Nishant stated, “Neeraj Kumar is a committed and seasoned party member who has consistently advocated for the concerns of his constituents.”

Conversely, Anant Singh characterized the conflict with Neeraj Kumar as a personal issue rather than a party matter, warning that any leaders attempting to mediate could be making a grave error.
